On Monday, a statement suggesting that Kaizer Chiefs will unveil a new coach and players on Wednesday appeared on the club’s official website.
The statement has sparked excitement among some Amakhosi fans as the club is known to be looking to fill the void left by Molefi Ntseki at the Naturena-based giants.
Ntseki parted ways with the Soweto giants in October 2023 and Cavin Johnson took over as an interim coach.
Last month, Chiefs’ sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr pointed out there will “definitely” be a new coach next season and that Johnson will be in charge of the team until the end of the current campaign.
Johnson is currently preparing Amakhosi for their penultimate match of the 2023/24 PSL season which is against Polokwane City on Saturday and the Glamour Boys need a win to consolidate their spot in the top eight.
That change of fortunes will require some freedom for the new coaching staff to dip into the market. This being in an effort to find some quality players that can come into the club and take the Chiefs brand back to where it belongs. It is no secret that Amakhosi have had a large turnover of players over the last two pre-season transfer windows.
